Toyine Sellers

Meet the artist and designer in her creative universe

Provenance

Born in South Africa to European parents, Toyine Sellers grew up as a child of the world, moving between Africa, North America, and South America. These nomadic years shaped a quiet attentiveness to the natural world and a lasting sensitivity to colour and texture. Drawing inspiration from nature, art, and memory, she conceives each creation as a work of art, an approach that continues to guide her practice, particularly since her return to Europe.

Savoir-Faire

A Parsons School of Design graduate, Toyine spent two decades designing high-end interiors before her focus shifted to material design. During her time at Peter Marino Architects in New York, where she contributed to luxury brand boutiques including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, and Dior, she discovered a world of skilled, passionate artisans. It was there that she honed her ability to develop new and innovative materials in close collaboration with them.

The Atelier

Drawn to weaving and textiles, she discovered in 2010 a French atelier on the verge of closure. Taking over the space and working alongside its skilled artisans, she founded TOYINE SELLERS, later becoming TOYINE. With direct oversight of every stage of production, she ensures exclusivity, uncompromising quality, and timely delivery.

Creative Philosophy

Toyine Sellers is the heart and creative force behind the atelier, conceiving each textile as an individual work of art, from its inception to its final composition. She believes textiles should do more than simply accent a space; when thoughtfully designed, they become a bridge between art and architecture.
